Health is an inclusive state of mental, physical and social wellness where infirmity and illness are absent. The three factors that constitute good health are the total amount of healthy nutrients, the total amount of calories consumed and the total population within the population. Healthy people do not die earlier or live longer than other people of the same age and sex. Good health enables the person to contribute to the economic growth of the country. A person who is mentally healthy and has good health habits also contributes to the productive growth of the nation. Thus, it can be said that health is wealth.

In contrast, an unhealthy lifestyle generally involves a person smoking regularly, eating fast food regularly, and being overweight. Unhealthy lifestyle usually leads to chronic diseases like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, osteoporosis, cancer, hypertension, kidney disorders, etc. Moreover, an unhealthy habit of drinking alcohol and using tobacco also leads to chronic diseases. Hence, it can be concluded that a healthy lifestyle helps you survive all kinds of diseases and makes your life long.

To achieve a healthy life, it is very important to maintain a healthy body, mind and spirit along with proper nutrition and regular exercise. Health can be achieved through healthy diet, regular exercise, and social interaction that help to build a healthy personality and build healthy relationships with other people. There are many different benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through various approaches such as following a healthy diet and exercise, avoiding dangerous practices like substance abuse and violence, controlling stress through managing stress, and having a positive attitude towards life.

A healthy diet is the basic building block of a healthy diet. It consists of all the essential nutrients that can build the body and keep it fit and strong. The three main components of a good diet are carbohydrate, protein and healthy fats. Carbohydrates include such sources as whole grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, etc. Protein includes eggs, milk and poultry products. Healthy fats include olive oil, fish oil and avocados.

The need for a healthy lifestyle does not stop when you are in the initial years of your life or after attaining puberty. Good health status is important even in the later years of your life. Poor health status results in a variety of diseases including cardiovascular and cancer diseases. Mental diseases like depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc are also associated with poor health status. Hence, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is very important for overall mental health and helps to cure mental disorders.

A healthy lifestyle does not have any age restrictions. It applies to anyone irrespective of age, sex, or community. Proper medical care ensures early detection of any type of illness and proper treatment in time, resulting in recovery from the illness and a sound mental health. Regular screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, smoking, etc, are necessary for an optimal life.
